Purple Key is borne out of a passion for flight, including planes and drones; a deep background in data, software, and machine learning; and a frustration crystallised in the Gatwick Drone Incident of 2018. 

The fact that one of the busiest airports in the world could be shut for days - and that four years later we still don't know that there was an actual drone in the space - demonstrated a gap in our ability to properly monitor and protect airspace. Is it a drone? It is a bird? Is it a mylar balloon? Losing millions in revenue by not being able to answer this question shouldn't happen given the technology available off the shelf, but it continues to happen around the world.
